Pneumothorax Following Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography: A Case Report
Authors
Abstract:
As an invasive procedure endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography is prone to develop complications including; pancreatitis, bleeding, cholangitis, and perforation. There are also other complications like pneumothorax, which are so rare. Although this complication is rare, delay in its management may lead to lethal consequences. The present study report a case of post- ERCP pneumothorax which occurred in the left side that after failing in the conservative management, a surgical intervention was made.

Case series of papillectomy by endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP)
Ampullary neoplasms are one of the causes of obstructive jaundice. Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) is useful procedure for diagnosing and tissue sampling of ampullary neoplasms. Ampullectomy by resecting entire ampulla provides whole lesion for pathologic evaluation and also is appropriate for real pathologic staging for further management decision but ampullectomy conside...

endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ercp) is widely used for the diagnosis and treatment of biliary and pancreatic tract disease. perforation is a rare complication of it, but it is associated with high rate of mortality, an overall mortality rate of 1.0-1.5%. here, a case of massive subcutaneous emphysema following ercp was reported without an obvious retroperitoneal or peritoneal ...

Although endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) is an effective modality for the diagnosis and treatment of biliary and pancreatic diseases, it is still related with several severe complications. We report on the case of a female patient who developed liver parenchyma perforation following ERCP. She underwent ERCP with sphincterotomy and extraction of a common bile duct stone. Sh...

Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) is a widely used diagnostic and therapeutic modality in the management of biliary and pancreatic disease. Some of the complications of the procedure, although rare, may carry significant morbidity and mortality risks. We describe the case of a 68-year-old female who underwent elective ERCP for ductal stone clearance. Immediately postprocedur...

Although the disorder is a rare cause of small bowel obstruction (1% to 2%), it has been reported to cause up to 25% of cases of non-strangulated small bowel obstruction in patients over 65 years of age.
